GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Weld County man could spend up to 148 years in prison after a Weld County jury convicted him of firing 59 shots into a Greeley bar in November of 2024.
Last week, Jimmy Cazares, 33, was found guilty of multiple charges, including: two counts of attempted murder after deliberation involving a deadly weapon, two counts of attempted murder due to extreme indifference with a deadly weapon, and criminal mischief causing damages of more than $20,000 but not more than $100,000.
In addition, a jury also convicted him of two drug-related counts.
On November 30, 2024, officers with the Greeley Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Wyler’s Pub and Brew, located in the 2300 block of 27th Street.
When police arrived, they found a female employee who had been shot multiple times, including once in the neck. Officers also identified a second victim inside the bar who had not been struck by gunfire but was in the direct line of fire. Both victims survived the shooting.
About 40 minutes prior to the shooting, bartenders had kicked the defendant out of the bar for fighting.
Under the law, the defendant is now facing 32 to 148 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 15th at 1:30PM in Division 16.
Deputy District Attorneys Lacy Wells and Mikaela Fatzinger are prosecuting this case.
