Formal charges filed in hit-and-run that killed Weld County deputy

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A man has been formally charged with hitting and killing Weld County Deputy Alexis Hein-Nutz last week, before leaving the scene of the crash.

Norberto Garcia-Gonzales, 36, was formally charged Friday in Weld District Court with:

COUNT 1: LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT

COUNT 2: CARELESS DRIVING

COUNT 3: FAILURE TO YIELD RIGHT OF WAY

COUNT 4: DRIVING UNDER RESTRAINT - ALCOHOL RELATED OFFENSE

COUNT 5: OBSTRUCTING A PEACE OFFICER

His next court appearance is scheduled for next Friday, September 30, at 8:30 a.m. in Division 11.
