GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – The 19th Judicial District Grand Jury has accepted the investigation into the death of Jonelle Matthews, and will conduct the investigation with the assistance of the Weld County District Attorney’s Office and the Greeley Police Department in the coming months. Matthews was 12 years old when she went missing from her parents’ Greeley home on December 20, 1984. Her remains were discovered in a field in rural Weld County on July 24, 2019. This is an active investigation. Because of the rules surrounding Colorado grand jury secrecy, no further information can be released and no comment will be made at this time.
