GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – On Friday, August 9, 2019, Weld District Attorney Michael Rourke issued a report to Greeley Police Chief Mark Jones, in regards to the officer involved shooting of Stephen Garcia on June 8, 2019 in Greeley.
The Critical Incident Response team (CIRT) conducted the investigation which was provided to the District Attorney’s Office.
Based on the thorough investigation, DA Rourke has determined the officer was justified for firing at Mr. Garcia after he attempted to light a methanol tank on fire.
No further information will be released at this time due to pending litigation in Mr. Garcia’s case.
