Chris Watts Admits to Killing Pregnant Wife and Two Young Children

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) - On Tuesday, November 6, Christopher Watts pleaded guilty to murdering his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, and two children, Celeste and Bella in August.

On August 20, Watts was formally charged with:

COUNT 1: MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE (F1)
COUNT 2: MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE (F1)
COUNT 3: MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE (F1)
COUNT 4: MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE (F1)
COUNT 5: MURDER IN THE FIRST DEGREE (F1)
COUNT 6: UNLAWFUL TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY
COUNT 7: TAMPERING WITH A DECEASED HUMAN BODY (F3)
COUNT 8: TAMPERING WITH A DECEASED HUMAN BODY (F3)
COUNT 9: TAMPERING WITH A DECEASED HUMAN BODY (F3)

Watts has pleaded guilty to all nine counts.

Originally, Watts faced the possibility of the death penalty or life in prison without parole.

With the agreement of the victims’ family, DA Rourke eliminated the death penalty from consideration in exchange for pleading guilty to all nine counts listed above.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Christopher Watts on Monday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. in Division 16.
