Greeley man sentenced to 22 years in prison for 2023 shooting

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Greeley man was sentenced to more than two decades behind bars for his role in a November 2023 shooting that left one man seriously injured.

On June 18, Weld County District Court Judge Kundelius sentenced Guadalupe Balderas to 22 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

The case stems from an incident at a residence in the 1800 block of Montview Boulevard in Greeley on November 11, 2023 where officers with the Greeley Police Department responded to reports of a shooting.

Balderas went to the residence where a male and female victim, who he had a history of conflict with, was located. After initially leaving, Balderas returned and began kicking the front door in an apparent attempt to enter the home.

Investigators determined that the male victim armed himself and told Balderas not to enter the residence. Balderas continued kicking the door before firing shots into the home.

The male victim was struck in the right arm and sustained a serious bodily injury. The male victim then returned fire.

Balderas was later transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
