GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Weld County jury convicted an Aurora businessman of theft for not delivering property to customers that his moving company H&M Relocation Services had been contracted with to move.

After a four-day trial, the jury found Huseyn Nemat-Zoda, 40, guilty of two counts of theft, both class 3 felonies.

In June, 2021, Nemat-Zoda, entered into a contract with the victims to move their property from Greeley, Colorado to Bloomington, Indiana with delivery to occur within 24 business days. The moving contract Mr. Nemat Zoda provided to the victims was not produced until after the victims’ items were loaded onto his trucks, and required that the victims pay a substantially higher amount than they had been previously quoted. A copy of this contract was never provided to the victims.

The victims paid Mr. Nemat Zoda $16,448.93 for his moving company to load, transport and deliver their belongings, which had an estimated value of no less than $150,711.99. In the days and weeks following Mr. Nemat Zoda picking up the victims’ items, he repeatedly made promises to have their items loaded and delivered. After the 24th business day, their property had not been delivered and Mr. Nemat-Zoda had stopped responding to calls. Mr. Nemat-Zoda never delivered the victims’ property. The victims then contacted the Greeley Police Department to file a report.

During the investigation, a majority of the victims’ property was located and recovered at a self-storage business located in Englewood, Colorado. The defendant had rented and was in default status on over 24 units at the self-storage location, including the unit the victims’ items were found within.
The investigation also uncovered that similar allegations had been reported around the state including others within Weld County

Deputy District Attorney Daniel Skelton prosecuted this case.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for May 9th at 2:00 p.m. in Division 11.
