Frederick officer charged with assaulting suspect during an arrest

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Frederick police officer is facing criminal charges after striking a suspect with the muzzle of his firearm during an arrest on April 28^th.

On Tuesday, the Weld County District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges against Officer Trevor McCourt .

Officer McCourt was charged with the following:

• COUNT 1: ASSAULT IN THE SECOND DEGREE (F4)
• COUNT 2: FIRST DEGREE OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT (M1)
• COUNT 3: RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT (M2)

The defendant was taken into custody in Douglas County on Wednesday, June 12 and posted bond.

A court date has been set for 6/28 at 9AM in Division 17. Because of pending litigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
