GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Weld County man will spend the next few decades behind bars for shooting and killing a man in Greeley in 2018.

Last month, a Weld County judge sentenced 19-year-old Leonardo Biorato of Greeley, to 32-years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, plus mandatory parole.

In November, the defendant plead guilty to one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class 2 felony.

Biorato shot and killed Edward Joseph Boyle Jr., 46, in July of 2018 at the Village Green Apartments on 26th Avenue in Greeley. After a several month long investigation, Biorato was arrested for the murder in December of 2018.

During the investigation, two witnesses told police they were sitting in a car outside the apartment complex when they heard two men yelling before hearing a single gunshot.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Michael Pirraglia and Deputy District Attorney Patrick Roche prosecuted this case.
