Judge Hands down 35 Year Sentence to Man for 2016 Murder

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Mead man will spend more than three decades behind bars for killing his brother’s girlfriend in September of 2016.

Friday, a Weld County judge sentenced 51-year-old Ronald Budler to 35 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.

According to the affidavit, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting on Hunter’s Cove Road in Mead on September 21, 2016 around 8:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim, Shawna Naimoli, 51, dead from two gunshot wounds to the head. Naimoli was the girlfriend of the defendant’s brother.

In December of 2018, Budler plead guilty to Murder in the Second Degree, a class two felony.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wrenn and Deputy District Attorney Patrick Roche prosecuted this case.
