GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A Weld County man will spend at least the next two decades behind bars after a jury found him guilty on two charges of Sex Assault on a Child in December of 2017.

On Friday, a Weld County judge sentenced 35-year-old Jose Garza of Evans, to an indeterminate sentence of 22 years to life in the Department of Corrections for sexually abusing a female child from April of 2013 until February of 2016.

The initial investigation began in February of 2016, when the victim told a family member of hers that she was being sexually abused for a few years.

“We have zero tolerance for crimes of this nature,” Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke said. “We take all crimes seriously, but when innocent children are involved, we seek the maximum penalty to make sure it doesn’t happen again. This man stole this little girl’s innocence and deserves every minute of every day he’ll spend behind bars.”
