Hell's Angels Gang Member Charged with Attempted Murder

GREELEY, Colo. (Weld County D.A.) – A suspected Hells Angels gang member is facing several charges after firing his gun at two vehicles, including an officer’s patrol car.

The Weld County District Attorney’s Office charged John Lockhart, 36, of Eaton, today with attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of vehicular eluding and illegal discharge of a firearm.

The crime spree started June 11 just after midnight when one of two riders on a black motorcycle shot through the back window of a passing SUV.

About an hour later, a Milliken police officer spotted the motorcycle near Highway 60 and attempted to stop the driver. The driver managed to speed away. During the chase, the officer heard what she believed was the motorcycle backfiring but later found a fired round in the front grill of her patrol car.

Two days later on June 13, Greeley officers saw the motorcycle speeding through parts of town. Ultimately, the driver and passenger disappeared after reaching speeds of 100 mph.

Police were eventually able to identify the driver as Lockhart using surveillance video from nearby businesses and the defendant’s Facebook page. They also learned he’s associated with the Hells Angels Nomads chapter based in LaSalle.

Lockhart and his passenger Amber Eaton, 33, of Thornton, were arrested last Wednesday night following a search warrant of Lockhart’s home. Eaton is not facing charges at this time.

Lockhart is currently in the Weld County jail on a million dollar bond.
